Miami Hurricanes Launch Football Victory Fund

The University of Miami Athletics Department announced Thursday the launch of the $7 million Football Victory Fund to address the most urgent needs of the football program.

Gifts to the Football Victory Fund will assist in the construction of three critical-needs projects, all with naming opportunities: an artificial in-fill practice surface for year-round use complete with lighting; a football cold plunge recovery zone; and a newly renovated and upgraded dining hall experience, to include an athletics training table area for student-athletes.

The creation of the Football Victory Fund is an initiative of the Hurricane Club’s “Building Champions” campaign which has seen nearly 2,500 new donors added in less than two years, now with more than 6,800 active annual members. The cornerstone of Miami’s “Building Champions” campaign was the $15 million Theodore G. Schwartz and Todd G. Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, which was publically dedicated on October 4, 2013, and also included an expansion of the existing Isadore Hecht Athletic Center.

“The momentum created by our ‘Building Champions’ campaign and the completion of the Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence have heightened the excitement surrounding Miami Hurricanes Athletics,” Director of Athletics Blake James said. “This is just the beginning of maintaining a solid athletics foundation. I believe this is an exciting time here at The U and we want all Canes on board.”

“The Schwartz Center was the first step in our process of Building Champions at THE U,” said Jesse Marks, Associate Athletic Director for Development. “The Football Victory Fund will provide us with the resources to continue to enhance our facilities and to provide the very best resources and experience for all of our student-athletes.”

There are a variety of ways to contribute to the Football Victory Fund as well as to Hurricanes Athletics.  For more information on how you can donate and details of the pending projects, please call the Hurricane Club at 305-284-6699 or visit umvictoryfund.com
