Frost School of Music

The nation’s premier innovator in higher music education, the Frost School of Music has honed an immersive, technology-rich model that cross-trains stellar young musicians.

The Frost School of Music is a unique resource for innovative, multidisciplinary music education that nurtures excellence and fosters success in a rapidly changing industry. Its faculty are renowned for their brilliant performance, creativity, and scholarship, and its alumni have made extraordinary contributions to classical and pop music, jazz, opera, and musical theatre. Deeply involved in South Florida’s cultural life, the school is home to a lively array of performances on campus and beyond, as well as pioneering programs such as the M.M./J.D. music business and law degree, the Frost Experiential Music Curriculum, the Henry Mancini Institute, the Bruce Hornsby Creative American Music program, the Stamps Music Scholars program, the Stamps Distinguished Visitors Series, Festival Miami, and the Frost MusicReach outreach initiative.

The Frost School’s top campaign priority is an Experiential Music Building, built to the highest LEED standards and equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia and interactive learning capabilities. It also plans a new Recital Hall and a grand entrance and music quad that will integrate the newest buildings with the Weeks Music Library and Weeks Center for Recording and Performance. Endowed scholarships and student stipends will allow the school to compete more effectively for outstanding students. Other key goals include endowments to retain top faculty, recruit renowned musicians as visiting or permanent faculty, and expand traveling programs, as well as increased support for community outreach and mentorship programs.
