Ana VeigaMilton, B.S.E.E. ’87, J.D. ’93

College of Engineering Campaign Chair

Ana VeigaMilton is a proud Miami Hurricane who attended the University as an undergraduate on an Isaac Bashevis Singer full scholarship. She then worked for BellSouth as a communications engineer, where she helped to implement the first public voicemail system in Florida.

After marrying Cecil Milton, a fellow ’Cane, VeigaMilton returned to UM on a full scholarship and earned her law degree. Her son is a student at the School of Business Administration, and her other two children aspire to follow their mother’s example and attend the College of Engineering.

VeigaMilton is active in the community, serving on the UM Citizens Board, the Zoological Society of Florida, and the Women’s Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters. She was honored as a Miracle Maker in 2011 and was recognized in 2012 by the Chapman Partnership for her service to the community. She serves as philanthropic and community liaison for her family’s business, one of the largest property owners and managers in South Florida.

VeigaMilton’s tradition of generous support for the University of Miami includes contributions to the College of Engineering, the School of Business Administration, and The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. She currently serves on the College of Engineering’s Visiting Committee.

Laura G. Coulter-Jones, B.B.A. ’80, M.B.A. ’90

College of Engineering Campaign Co-Chair

Laura G. Coulter-Jones is a University of Miami alumna who devotes significant time and resources towards advancing the institution. In addition to a decade of service on the Board of Trustees, she also serves on several of the board’s committees.

Former president of the Coulter Corporation (now Beckman Coulter, Inc.), a medical device and diagnostics company founded by her father and uncle, Coulter focused on the areas of finance, research and development, and regulatory work.

Coulter hails from a family that has a longstanding relationship with the University. Through her private family foundation, this dedicated philanthropist’s charitable giving centers on healthcare-related and educational causes, supporting the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, the College of Engineering, and Jackson Memorial Hospital. She currently serves on the College of Engineering’s Visiting Committee.
