Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa, A.B. ’77

Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa has more than 30 years of experience in financial services, the majority of which are in global wealth management. She has served in leadership positions with firms such as Bankers Trust Company, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, and Bank of America.

Sevilla-Sacasa currently serves as chief executive officer of Banco Itau Europa International, a Miami-based international subsidiary of Banco Itau. Previously she served as president and chief executive officer of U.S. Trust Company and president of U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. Sevilla-Sacasa also led private banking businesses at Citigroup, where she was president of Latin America Private Banking, president of Europe Private Banking, and head of the international trust business.

In January 2011, Sevilla-Sacasa returned to her alma mater as interim dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration, where she provided leadership during the University’s search for a new dean. She later served as executive advisor for the new dean. Sevilla-Sacasa is a member of UM’s President’s Council and has generously funded initiatives at the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business Administration.

James A. Kushlan, Ph.D., B.S. ’69, M.S. ’72, Ph.D. ’74

Dr. James A. Kushlan is a writer, scientist, educator, and conservationist. He is recognized particularly for his expertise in the biology and conservation of water birds and wetlands and in the strategic management of not-for-profit conservation and educational organizations.  

As a writer, Kushlan has published over 200 professional papers and has authored or edited seven books. In his professional fields of education and research, Kushlan has held positions as research biologist for the National Park Service; professor of biology and director of the Center for Water Resources at Texas A & M University (Commerce); professor and chair of biology at the University of Mississippi; director of Patuxent Wildlife Research Center (US Geological Survey); president of the American Ornithologists’ Union; senior science advisor to the US Geological Survey; and research associate at the Smithsonian Institution.

A three-time University of Miami alumnus, Kushlan is dedicated to the advancement of his alma mater. He serves as a member of the College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee and generously supports the University through donations to various areas, including the Department of Biology and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. In addition to his involvement with UM, Kushlan serves on the boards of the Everglades Foundation, Zoo Miami Zoological Society of Florida, History Miami, and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
