Adrienne Arsht
Gifts from outstanding businesswoman and University of Miami trustee advance ethics education and varied initiatives across the University
Adrienne Arsht is an outstanding businesswoman, civic leader, and charitable activist whose professional successes are surpassed only by her reputation as a generous benefactor of many worthy causes. Her landmark donation to Miami’s performing arts center in 2008 was instrumental in securing financial stability for the center, renamed the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in her honor. A hands-on patron of the arts, she is an active member of several cultural committees and organizations nationwide.
“By incorporating ethics into most fields of study, the University of Miami is providing a vision for leadership in this community.”
Adrienne Arsht
A tireless champion for education, Arsht, a University of Miami trustee, has played a significant role in the University’s success through thoughtful contributions to key initiatives. Believing passionately that ethics should be integrated at every level of learning, Arsht has continued her support to the University’s interdisciplinary ethics programs, funding the Arsht Ethics Initiatives, which include an ethics debate series, a research program, and the Adrienne Arsht Distinguished Speaker Series in Ethics.
Arsht has also designated funds to the Frost School of Music and other University of Miami areas. Her dedicated interest in vision research and technology led to the creation of a research fund and the Adrienne Arsht Hope for Vision Retinal Degeneration Research Laboratory at the Miller School of Medicine’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She is currently chairman emerita of TotalBank, the banking institution she helped grow as chairman of the board from 1996 to 2007.
